OnePlus Watch 2R Review – Budget Smartwatch, Flagship Feel

OnePlus has quietly launched the Watch 2R, a streamlined version of the OnePlus Watch 2—but don’t let the price fool you. With a solid AMOLED display, powerful chip, and great battery life, the 2R offers more than you'd expect in its price range.

Design: Light, Sleek, Familiar

The 2R keeps the same overall shape as the Watch 2 but trims some of the build. It has a circular 1.43" AMOLED display with 466x466 resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass. The watch feels light and comfortable—perfect for all-day wear.

  • Case: Aluminum alloy (lighter than stainless steel)
  • Straps: Silicone with standard 22mm support
  • Water Resistance: IP68 + 5ATM

Performance: Snapdragon W5 + RTOS Hybrid

Inside, it runs on a dual-chip system: Snapdragon W5 and BES 2700. This allows for a unique hybrid mode—Wear OS for full features, and a low-power RTOS mode to save battery when you don’t need smart functions.

  • Battery Life: Up to 4 days in smart mode, 12 days in power saver
  • OS: Wear OS by Google

Fitness and Health Features

While not as advanced as the Pixel Watch 2 or Galaxy Watch 6, it covers the basics well. You get heart rate monitoring, SpO2, sleep tracking, 100+ workout modes, and built-in GPS. It also supports Google Fit and third-party fitness apps via Wear OS.

What’s Missing?

To cut costs, OnePlus removed a few features from the regular Watch 2. You won’t get the stainless steel case, wireless charging, or ECG. But if you just want reliable tracking, app support, and good battery, the 2R delivers.

Who Should Buy This?

If you're after a smartwatch under $200 that doesn't feel like a downgrade, the Watch 2R is a smart pick. It runs full Wear OS, supports Google Assistant, Google Maps, and even Spotify offline playback. That’s rare at this price.

Verdict

OnePlus Watch 2R is one of the most balanced smartwatches in its category. It’s not here to win feature wars—but it nails the essentials with polish.

Rating: 8.6/10 – Great value, polished software, and excellent battery life.
